Start with a ready-made brief

Eight editable starting points. Choose one, then change the details to fit your shot.

Presets are writing templates. The tested video examples are below.

01 Starting point

Starting point

Describe what Pika should create, then tell it how the scene moves.

02 Subject & scene

For a person, include age group, clothing and expression. For a product, include shape, colour and material.

03 Action & timing

Describe an action that can fit into a short clip. I start with a small movement before adding a more complex sequence.

04 Camera direction

Choose a shot size and angle, then one camera movement. Lens choices describe the look of the shot.

05 Lighting, style & atmosphere

Pick only the choices that matter to your idea. Leave the rest open.

06 Consistency & things to avoid

These requests are part of the prompt. Inspect the generated clip to see what the model kept.

WORDS AND THEIR RESULTS

Two tested starting points

We used the same coffee-mug brief with Pika 2.5, selected 1080p, five seconds and one generation per method. Watch both clips, then borrow the workflow that fits your idea.

IMAGE-TO-VIDEO

Animate a product photo

Pika 2.5 · 1080p selected · 5 seconds · 45 credits charged

The mug and handle stayed visible in our ending frame. The steam changed, with a modest camera approach.

Steam rises gently from the coffee. The camera slowly moves closer to the mug. Keep the mug shape, handle, tabletop and warm lighting consistent. No new objects.

TEXT-TO-VIDEO

Create a scene from words

Pika 2.5 · 1080p selected · 5 seconds · 45 credits charged

The scene started with a mug, then added a hand and pouring vessel near the end. I would simplify the motion or start from a photo for this brief.

One unbranded matte ivory ceramic coffee mug filled with hot coffee on a pale beige tabletop. The whole mug and its handle are visible in a three-quarter view, with space around the product. Soft morning light from the left and a plain warm beige background. Steam rises gently from the coffee. The camera slowly moves closer to the mug. Keep the mug shape, handle, tabletop and warm lighting consistent. No new objects.

One attempt per method gives us examples to learn from. A changed prompt can produce a different result.

From prompt to a usable clip

  1. Choose the workflow. I use a photo when the product’s appearance matters; words when I’m still choosing the scene.
  2. Copy and prepare. Paste the prompt in Pika, attach a photo for image-to-video, and check the model and settings.
  3. Generate once and review. Play the entire clip. Check the subject’s shape, framing and any extra objects before retrying.
